Learn how to create, resolve and modify workflow tasks in the Workflow Tasks portlet of the dotCMS.

Creating a Task on Content

A Workflow Task can be created from an opened piece of Content by clicking on the "Save/Assign" button instead of the "Save/Publish" button.

Clicking the "Save/Assign" button opens a Workflow Task that is automatically associated with the open Content.

The user opening the Workflow Task assigned to them will be able to open and even perform actions on the Content from the Workflow Task without having to search for the Content in the Content Search Manager.  The example below shows a Content related Workflow Task being assigned to a specific backend user.  It is important to note however that Workflow Tasks can also be assigned to a user "Role" as well to target a particular group of users.  Users and User Roles and are displayed in separate paginated lists in the "Assignee" field as shown below.
