Files Tab

The Files Tab allows users to view, edit, search for, and add various file types.

Files Tab

Under the Files sub-tab, clicking on the "View Working Files" link will display all the saved/published Files on the host in a paginated list (see above). Clicking on the "Add/Edit" File link will allow you to add (upload) a new file from your local computer to the dotCMS server. The Files sub-tab also allows users to filter searching for Files by Host, and by keyword search.

The Files search results display in six columns:

  • Status - displays "Live" for published files and is empty for files that are saved or in working status
  • Filename - displays the filename set on upload.  Click on the "Filename" column heading to re-order search results by filename
  • Title - title that is displayed if the file has the "Show on Menu" property.  Click on the "Title" column heading to re-order search results by title
  • Host - displays the host that the file was uploaded to
  • Folder - displays the path from the host to the folder where the file resides
  • Mod. Date - displays the date and time of the last modification of the file
Right Click on File

In the search results area a left click on a particular filename will open the file properties window for that file, while a right-click on a filename will produce a menu list that allows users to Open, Edit, Publish, Copy, Move, or *Publish/Unpublish/Archive the file.

*some menu options are dynamic, based upon the current file status.
