Edit, Preview, and Live modes on HTML Pages
Learn the difference between the Edit, Preview, and Live modes on an HTML page. This tutorial shows you how to preview the look of your content before publishing to live to your site on your HTML pages.

Live Mode

Live Mode

Live mode shows the last published version of an HTML page.  Even though two contentlets exist on the HTML page shown below, Live Mode only displays the one that existed on the page as of the last time that the page was published.

Live Mode Unpublished

After using the "Publish Page" button that is only available in Edit Mode, the new highlighted content now displays in Live Mode in the second image below.  If you have published your HTML page but you are still having problems viewing the content on the page in Live Mode, then the permissions on the content are most likely not set properly.  For more information, see the documentation section on Content Permissions

Live Mode Published

A collapsible toolbar on the left hand column buttons displays the following buttons:

  • Page Properties - brings the user to the Add/Edit HTML Page portlet where basic and advanced HTML page properties, page Permissions, and Versions can be managed.
  • Page Statistics - brings the user to the Web Statistics of HTML Page portlet where users can view and filter page statistics
  • Create New Page - add a new HTML page
  • Close Edit Mode - quits the editing process on the HTML page and returns the user to the Website Browser
  • Create a Task - allows users to create a new Workflow Task and displays current workflow tasks that have been assigned concerning the HTML page being edited
