Managing Users, Roles, Pages, and Permissions

dotCMS includes a complex permissioning system that enables system administrators to control user access to everything in the backend including structures, folders, pages, categories - all dotCMS objects are permission controlled. Understanding how permissions, groups, and roles interact with users and content is critical to a successful and properly maintained back end.

Additionally, permissions on the folder system can be used to control page and content visibility to users who log in through the front end of the site for people running sites using front end logins.

In the following sections, we will take a look at the different aspects of permissions in dotCMS, and how they are used to enhance your users' experience.
