Edit, Preview, and Live modes on HTML Pages
Learn the difference between the Edit, Preview, and Live modes on an HTML page. This tutorial shows you how to preview the look of your content before publishing to live to your site on your HTML pages.

Preview Mode

EditPreviewLive

Clicking on the Preview tab causes the Edit Mode tools to be removed from the working copy of the HTML page so that additions of content or changes to the HTML page can be previewed as they will appear when the HTML page is published.  The Preview Mode removes all of the editing buttons on containers and contentlets to allow a true view of the working page.

Preview Mode w New Content

Content that is not permissioned with CMS Anonymous will not be visible on the Preview or Live Mode. For more information, see the documentation section on Content Permissions

If the page you are previewing requires a front end login, you can login as a front-end user on the page and view content in Preview or in Live Mode as that front-end user.

A collapsible toolbar on the left hand column buttons displays the following buttons:

  • Page Properties - brings the user to the Add/Edit HTML Page portlet where basic and advanced HTML page properties, page Permissions, and Versions can be managed.
  • Page Statistics - brings the user to the Web Statistics of HTML Page portlet where users can view and filter page statistics
  • Create New Page - add a new HTML page
  • Close Edit Mode - quits the editing process on the HTML page and returns the user to the Website Browser
  • Create a Task - allows users to create a new Workflow Task and displays current workflow tasks that have been assigned concerning the HTML page being edited
