dotCMS - Open Source Content Management System, Ondemand CMS, and Professional Support

The dotCMS system is made available from dotCMS, Inc. under a dual license.  Dual licensing offers customers a choice between an open source, community driven license and a commercial license designed for proprietary software distribution.  The licenses are as follows:

1. Open Source License (GPL version 2.0)
   This is the appropriate option if you want to share the source code of your application back with the dotCMS community.  Anyone can then choose to re-distribute your work, change it and share their changes back with the community.  If you choose this option, the complete source code for your changes and application must be made publicly available and freely redistributable under reasonable conditions.
2. Commercial License
   A dotCMS Commercial license is the appropriate option if you are creating closed-source, proprietary applications and you are not prepared to publicly distribute and share the source code of your application.  Commercial Licensing permits closed-source distribution of an application to third parties and can provide business assurance and ongoing support from dotCMS, Inc.  If you are interested in learning more about purchasing a commercial license, please contact us.
